Derek Chauvin, convicted of murdering George Floyd, has been transferred to a Texas prison after being severely injured during an attack at a previous facility.
Chauvin was stabbed 22 times by John Turscak, a former gang leader, who claimed his attack on Chauvin was symbolically linked to the Black Lives Matter movement.
Chauvin is currently appealing his federal guilty plea, arguing that new evidence suggests he was not responsible for Floyd's death.
Thomas Lane, another former Minneapolis officer involved in Floyd's death, has been released after serving three years for aiding and abetting manslaughter.
