Deaths from Israeli attacks in Gaza undercounted by 41 percent, study finds

A new study published in The Lancet estimates that actual deaths from the war in Gaza may be as high as 78,525, significantly undercounting the official toll.

The study estimated at least 64,260 traumatic injury deaths, indicating a 41% underreporting by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, which noted 37,877 deaths.

According to the study, 59.1% of the confirmed dead were women, children, and the elderly, emphasizing the severe impact on vulnerable groups in Gaza.

The analysis criticizes the lack of comprehensive death toll reporting, especially for those who died due to lack of healthcare and other related causes.
