Santa Cruz Releases New E-MTB That Ditches Its Usual Design
Briefly

Santa Cruz Bicycles is replacing its long-standing Virtual Pivot Point suspension design with a traditional Horst link for its new e-mountain bike, the Vala.
Brand Manager Hannah Mirepassi notes, "The VPP design just doesn't accommodate the full power motor while maintaining the same suspension characteristics that people expect from Santa Cruz."
Product Manager Kiran Mackinnon emphasizes, "Moving to a four-bar linkage makes it a lot easier to achieve better leverage, but also anti-squat and anti-rise."
Despite having a successful VPP e-bike lineup, Santa Cruz's shift to the Horst link design indicates extensive testing and data acquisition that informed the change.
