Romain Bardet abandons Volta ao Algarve after stage 3 crash

Romain Bardet, competing in his debut at the Volta ao Algarve, crashed during stage 3 of the race while entangled with teammate Romain Combaud. Although Combaud quickly recovered, Bardet took longer to return to his feet and received assistance from medical staff. After initially getting on a spare bike, he ultimately decided to abandon the race for safety concerning his arm injury. This withdrawal comes as Bardet prepares for his final competitive events ahead of a transition to gravel racing, targeting the Giro d'Italia before retirement.
