Rosendo Cruz Vargas has been sentenced to a year of house arrest for the 2019 hit-and-run death of bicyclist Kiranjot Singh Deol. Vargas, who was driving over the speed limit at the time of the incident, pleaded no contest to multiple charges. Judge Clifford Blakely took various factors into account during sentencing, resulting in the maximum sentence being adjusted to house arrest with GPS monitoring. Vargas will also undergo a two-year probation period after the house arrest ends, which could be as soon as July with good behavior.
