Exclusive | NYC bike messengers reveal their surprisingly busiest time of year - and best parts of the job
Briefly

On off-peak seasons, delivery cyclists earn around $100 each day - and, for most of the workhorses, that doesn't include tips. But during Fashion Week, they earn significantly more. 'You can easily make $500 a day,' raved the millennial Victor 'VR' Ramirez, a courier who works for Mess Kollective. The high demand during NYFW allows couriers to leverage their skills, turning what is typically a stressful job into one of the most lucrative periods of the year.
'Fashion Week's the greatest time of year for us,' said Ramirez, of Bushwick. He typically transports togs for top fashion houses, such as Stella McCartney, during the bash, making drop-offs at 'scary fast' speeds from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Despite the hectic pace and challenges, the role of a courier is essential, connecting the fashion world while navigating through heavy city traffic and fulfilling urgent deliveries for high-profile clients in glamorous settings.
