In an unusual incident in southeast London, Sergeant Alan Cooley managed to chase down a drug dealer using the dealer's bicycle. Officers were responding to a robbery and identified 22-year-old Justice Oyedokun loitering nearby. Despite dropping his bike to evade capture, Oyedokun was outmaneuvered by Cooley, who humorously noted that the bike was in poor condition. The chase lasted five minutes, culminating in Oyedokun's arrest, where police found a significant amount of cannabis and the stolen iPhone, which was returned to its rightful owner.
For some reason, instead of cycling off on his bike, he dropped the bike. At which point I thought he's younger and fitter than me so I might as well use his bike to my advantage.
It was a clapped out old bike. I couldn't even change the gears on it.
Watching back video of the chase, PC Thind and her sergeant laugh at Oyedokun's attempt to shake off the officer by running around a car four times, claiming they tired him out in a Benny Hill-style moment.
The chase ended five minutes later as reinforcements finally arrive and the officer yells, 'That's him!', towards the now cornered suspect.
