Campagnolo has unveiled an innovative evolution of its Shamal carbon wheels, now featuring a variable depth profile of 40-45mm aimed at enhancing aerodynamic performance, especially in crosswinds. These wheels are designed to be deeper, wider, and lighter than previous versions, improving versatility across road types. The design builds on earlier models, merging features from its alloy predecessors and sibling brand Fulcrum's wheels, offering increased stiffness and lower weight. Notably, the new wheels accommodate wider modern tires and maintain strong aerodynamic efficiency, demonstrated through CFD design and wind tunnel testing.
Designed for improved aerodynamic performance even in crosswinds, the new undulating wheels look to improve in almost every performance characteristic.
You mix the stiffness of the deeper rim section, and the lightness of the lower section. Plus, now according to Campagnolo's CFD design & wind tunnel data there's also improved overall aerodynamic performance.
