Cabras Cyclocross World Cup cancelled due to extreme winds
Briefly

The UCI announced the cancellation stating, 'Due to the heavy storm that is hitting Is Arutas (Cabras) and the rest of Sardinia, it has been decided to cancel the third World Cup event of the season.' This decision was made in collaboration with race organisers, local authorities, and security services, citing safety concerns for all involved.
The local organisers expressed their disappointment, saying, 'Ensuring the safety of our athletes, fans, and all the staff remains our top priority in making this necessary decision,' while also confirming plans to return for the event in 2025.
Conditions were deemed unsafe due to 'gusts of wind reaching nearly 100 kilometers per hour persistent throughout the morning,' leading to damage such as toppling barriers and tents.
The adverse systems not only caused the cancellation but also led to significant damage including a fire caused by lightning that 'destroyed the makeshift bar and dining room, as well as the press room,' according to reports.
