Mich Mich Bakery / entre escalas
Briefly

The Mich Mich Bakery, a transformed semi-detached house in São Paulo's Pompeia neighborhood, emphasizes public connectivity to its production areas. The architectural design includes new openings that facilitate visual connections from the sidewalk to the internal courtyard. Key features include a first-floor industrial kitchen with equipment and a freight elevator, while the upper floor houses specialized production facilities. The design retains original elements like arches and wooden features, and introduces materials such as Portuguese mosaic for continuity. A new metallic glass closure enhances public visibility into production, enriching the communal experience.
The architectural project for the Mich Mich Bakery was based on the premise of visually connecting the public with production.
The walls have been stripped bare, revealing not only the original construction technique (structural brickwork), but also the passage of time.
Some pre-existing architectural elements have been retained, such as the archway, wooden doors, staircase and wooden handrail.
The first floor has service areas on the front terrace, in the central hall and in the courtyard at the back.
