The Peninsula New York, a historic Midtown Manhattan hotel established in 1905, is presenting a new art exhibition titled "New York Urban Contexts | 1980-2025" through May 2026. The exhibit features 11 works from local artists and celebrates the city's artistic heritage and evolution, spanning from downtown experimentation and early media innovation to street-based aesthetics. The hotel's Managing Director emphasizes that art is central to the cultural immersion experience offered at The Peninsula. Featured artists include Dan Asher, whose six untitled works from the 1980s and 1990s display expressive masklike portraits in graphite, oil and tempera, and Brooklyn-based artist Kosuke Kawahara, who contributes three contemporary works from 2023-2025 using mixed media techniques.
