Google announced it will be making further adjustments to the Digital Markets Act in Europe to better assist smaller businesses in travel and retail sectors.
They noted that since the initial changes were implemented, "free direct booking clicks are down as much as 30%", indicating a loss of traffic for direct bookings.
The tests include expanded formats that allow users to choose between direct supplier results and comparison site results, enhancing user options for searching.
The test will specifically impact hotel result displays in Germany, Belgium and Estonia, removing features like maps and property data to showcase links instead.
