Jannik Sinner has been handed a three-month ban after testing positive for clostebol, an anabolic agent, but senior officials at WADA assert that he did not intentionally cheat. This statement followed an appeal by WADA against a previous tribunal ruling that had cleared him. The provisional suspension will last from February 9 to May 4, and although the ban has attracted criticism, especially from other players like Novak Djokovic who suggests favoritism in the process, WADA emphasized the technical assessment of the case.
This was a case that was a million miles away from doping, the Wada general counsel, Ross Wenzel, told BBC Sport.
The scientific feedback that we received was that this could not be a case of intentional doping, including micro-dosing.
