Carlos Alcaraz ruled out of Wimbledon as recovery from wrist injury goes on
"Tennis players have to be particularly careful with wrist injuries because of the constant strain their strokes place on their wrists and the risk of developing chronic injuries, meaning Alcaraz's decision not to compete at Wimbledon comes as no surprise. In his absence, the tour remains at the mercy of Sinner, the world No 1, who won his sixth consecutive Masters 1000 title on Sunday with his triumph at the Italian Open and has won 29 matches in a row."
Carlos Alcaraz withdrew from Wimbledon while recovering from a right wrist injury that will keep him out for at least three months. He last played at the Barcelona Open, withdrawing from his second-round match after feeling pain in his right wrist during his opening match. He also missed the remainder of the clay-court season, including the French Open. Alcaraz said his recovery is progressing but he is not ready to compete, so he will miss the grass-court swing at Queen’s and Wimbledon. He is the reigning French Open champion and a two-time Wimbledon champion, having reached the Wimbledon final last year. With Alcaraz absent, Jannik Sinner becomes the leading favorite after winning the Italian Open and extending a long winning streak.
