Tesla is evaluating multiple Texas cities for a long-promised robotaxi service, with Austin on the table after a series of discussions and training events with local officials.
The company’s employee indicated that Austin is on Tesla's roadmap, but no decision has been made on deployment sites as the company weighs various options.
Currently, Tesla is not conducting any vehicle tests on public streets while it continues the development of its autonomous vehicle technology.
Despite unveiling a prototype Cybercab and years of promises from CEO Elon Musk, the fully self-driving Tesla and robotaxi service remain undelivered.
