Ongoing housing market shift has builders in Texas and Florida concerned

According to U.S. homebuilders surveyed by Zonda in July 2024: 56% are seeing 'very little competition' from the resale market, with only 1% noting 'very strong competition.' Overall, active inventory being up 37% year over year hasn't created significant pressure on builders as many still report strong sales despite the increased availability of homes.
In spite of all the blur and the affordability and the noise and the inventory and everything in the media, underneath that, people want to be homeowners, and so we're seeing that,' KB Home CEO Jeffrey Mezger recently told ResiClub, highlighting that despite current challenges, demand for new homes remains robust. Builder sales, he noted, are at one of the highest levels in the company's history.
