Falcons promote T.J. Yates to passing game coordinator and D.J. Williams to QBs coach
Briefly

T.J. Yates, a former NFL quarterback, has rapidly advanced within the Atlanta Falcons coaching staff. Originally hired as a passing game specialist in 2021, he moved up to wide receivers coach in 2022 and has now been promoted to passing game coordinator. This new role involves overseeing gameday strategies for quarterback Michael Penix Jr. The Falcons aim to enhance their passing attack under Yates, whose previous experience and recent promotions may position him as a future offensive coordinator candidate if the team's success continues.
Yates will now be the team's passing game coordinator, a position that was not on staff a year ago, and will presumably take on a larger role in gameday planning.
If Atlanta's passing attack thrives over the next couple of seasons, recent history in the NFL suggests that both Zac Robinson and Yates could be hot coaching candidates.
The hope is that in his first full year starting, Penix will preside over a well-coached, well-planned, and talented passing attack.
Surviving a staff change is a fairly big deal, but getting promoted just one year into your stint with that coaching staff is pretty impressive.
