Scot Loeffler has departed Bowling Green after six seasons to become the quarterbacks coach for the Philadelphia Eagles, succeeding Doug Nussmeier. Despite a 27-41 overall record, Loeffler guided the Falcons to three consecutive bowl appearances with a strong 16-10 record in MAC play. University president Rodney Rogers praised Loeffler's commitment to student-athletes and BGSU Athletics. Loeffler returns to the NFL for the first time since coaching with the Detroit Lions in 2008. This coaching transition opens a transfer portal window for Bowling Green players amidst roster changes.
Loeffler, 50, went 27-41 at Bowling Green but led the Falcons to bowl appearances in each of the past three seasons, posting a 16-10 record in MAC play during the span.
Scot has been dedicated to not only BGSU Football, but to all our student-athletes and BGSU Athletics, as well as our Falcon Marching Band and spirit programs, said university president Rodney Rogers.
Loeffler returns to the NFL for the first time since 2008, when he coached quarterbacks for the Detroit Lions after serving in various coaching roles at several colleges.
The coaching change means Bowling Green players now have a 30-day window to enter the NCAA transfer portal, following the loss of key players to other programs.
