The Rubin's Annual Grant Program Funds Himalayan Art and Research
"In 2024, the Rubin launched a new annual grant program to support artists, creatives, and scholars who are expanding awareness and understanding of Himalayan art globally, as well as the rich cultural legacy and living traditions of the greater Himalayan region. Over the past two years, the Rubin has supported 32 projects from around the world with grants ranging from $3,000 to $25,000, depending on the scale, impact, and needs of each proposal."
"Examples of projects that have received grants include a new conservation training program in Mongolia; documentation of historic art in central Bhutan and Nepal; research that focuses on the provenance of objects from a Tibetan Buddhist temple in Darjeeling, India; Tibetan visual art teaching resources and materials for educators; a two-channel video installation in northern India that explores the Tibetan Buddhist concept of interdependence; new exhibitions, multimedia projects, and much more."
The Rubin launched an annual grant program in 2024 to support artists, creatives, and scholars expanding awareness and understanding of Himalayan art and the greater Himalayan region’s cultural legacy. Over two years the program funded 32 projects worldwide with awards ranging from $3,000 to $25,000 based on project scale, impact, and needs. Rubin x Research grants support scholarship, documentation, and broader research. Rubin x Art Projects grants support creative practices that give visibility to living traditions. Funded work includes conservation training, documentation in Bhutan and Nepal, provenance research, teaching resources, installations, exhibitions, and multimedia. Letters of inquiry for 2026 are due February 16–March 6, 2026; apply at rubinmuseum.org/grants.
