Sarah and Samantha Ferrer are first-generation Cuban American twins based in Miami who reinvent vaporwave through ceramics. Their work explores girlhood and the distinctive local culture that often feels like its own country. Ceramics incorporate pop-cultural semiotics such as GameBoy Advances and cereal sculpted as weepy anime girl heads, turning touchable objects into precious, untouchable art that invites nostalgic interaction. Backgrounds in drawing and painting inform detailed urns, LV-inspired decorations, and anime-inflected figurines. A nod to Cuban heritage appears in a Scarface Tony Montana bust. A studio opening is planned to connect with the wider community.
Whether we're recreating something that already exists, a feeling, or recounting a viral moment, our goal is to immortalise those moments in clay, in the form of an object that will last forever,
We try to make each piece feel like a three-dimensional version of one of our drawings or paintings,
Sarah's work tends to be smaller, more detailed, and her palette is more muted,
Whereas Samantha's work is big, bold, more gestural and rough,
