""As far as I'm concerned, they can do it tomorrow," she told The Art Newspaper. "I'm for nature and there will be so many new trees that it will be terrific... There are always a few moaning Minnies.""
The Rijksmuseum has received an exceptional donation and promised long-term loans from the Don Quixote Foundation, founded by Rolly van Rappard. The museum plans a €60 million modern sculpture garden on a nearby triangular plot with green space and three pavilions for temporary exhibitions and sculptures by Alberto Giacometti, Jean Arp and Henry Moore. Foster + Partners will design the pavilions and Belgian landscape architect Piet Blanckaert will design the garden. The Don Quixote Pavilion and Garden is expected to be free to the public. The project includes restoration of three listed buildings and awaits planning permission while some neighbours expressed concerns about tree removal.
