The Museum of Modern Art has added Adam Pendleton's 'Who is Queen?' to its collection, a monumental work comprising 25 pieces that investigate the concept of "Black Dada". This installation features various multimedia elements and was designed to encourage viewers to consider the connection between the past and present. Pendleton, who developed this framework in 2008, aims to evoke a fluidity in experience and interpretation through his art, ultimately reflecting on contemporary life and the complexities of identity.
There was not a single moment or a focal point, which, I believe, is related to one of the articulations of abstraction.
One of the core tenets of Black Dada is the confluence between the past and present... creating a space that is perpetually fluid and in flux.
