"The incident took place at approximately 11 p.m. on Monday, when a security guard patrolling the Chihuly Garden and Glass discovered a vandal smashing the locally based legend's luminescent glass sculptures. In a news release, the Seattle Police Department noted that the guard attempted to subdue the intruder himself. But the perpetrator began throwing glass shards, before trying to stab the guard-who retreated, then called the police."

King County authorities have charged a suspect, 40-year-old Alexander Taylor Weis, with first degree burglary, second degree assault, and first degree malicious mischief. Yesterday, a King County judge reportedly set Weis's bail at $100,000."
