MASSIMODECARLO presents "No Room for Emptiness," the first solo exhibition in Italy by French artist Diane Dal-Pra. The exhibition subverts expectations by embracing emptiness, creating paintings that exist in a state of beautiful instability. Drawing inspiration from Gilles Deleuze’s philosophy, Dal-Pra's art plays with folds in fabric, exploring themes of memory, transience, and transformation. Her titles hint at complex narratives, while her layered compositions reveal a tactile engagement with both the physical world and deeper metaphysical concepts, inviting viewers into a paradox of presence and absence.
"Dal-Pra takes the idea of endless folding to heart, turning fabric into a site of memory, a surface that absorbs and distorts like a living entity."
"Her compositions are layered and ambiguous, with folds that conceal and seduce, embodying a world of constant transformation and instability."
"Her works, like Deleuze's labyrinthine folds, do not settle - they twist, recoil, and envelop, merging the physical with the metaphysical."
