The 14th edition of the Spring Break Art Show in Soho, themed "Paradise Lost + Found", features over 100 projects addressing utopia's psychological, historical, and personal aspects. Amid political uncertainty, themes of critters and anthropomorphism dominate, with artists exploring the interplay of manmade and natural elements. The show marks an important moment for East Coast artists displaced by California wildfires affecting the show's West Coast iteration. This year's exhibits delve into marginalization and environmental degradation through powerful visual narratives.
"I love the juxtaposition of the manmade and the natural in pictorial narrative," the St Louis-based artist tells The Art Newspaper.
The most notable motif popping up throughout the fair is that of critters, ranging from mythological spectres to bonafide creepy crawlies.
