City opens new office to address arts, music and cultural needs - Austin Monitor
Briefly

The city has formed a new Office of Arts, Culture, Music and Entertainment to better support its creative industries by consolidating operations from multiple divisions. This stand-alone office will be led by Angela Means and aims to enhance services for the cultural sector. City Manager T.C. Broadnax emphasized the need for this realignment to improve resource management, attract tourism, and elevate Austin as a cultural destination. This move follows calls from various arts leaders for a centralized office to advocate for and support the city’s creative community.
After months of engaging with numerous organizations and individuals who are dedicated to the success of Austin's creative community, it became clear to me that we needed to realign our resources to better support our cultural ecosystem. Under a unified office, we can improve how we provide services and create synergistic opportunities that attract tourists, generate revenue, and elevate Austin's profile as a cultural destination.
The city’s cultural affairs programming and resources had been spread across multiple departments. The Office of Arts, Culture, Music and Entertainment will consolidate these operations into a single entity.
