"UC Berkeley's Worth Ryder Gallery presents Both Sides Now 10, an exhibit co-curated by UK-based videoclub and Hong Kong artist Isaac Leung. The exhibit features work by 10 artists and explores themes of media control, memory, labor and posthuman experience. Sept. 4-30. 116 Anthropology & Art Practice Building. Hours vary, but the building is mostly open from noon to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. FREE The Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (or BAMPFA) offers free admission to its gallery once a month. First Thursdays. FREE"
"New York saxophonist Michael Marcus, a former Bay Area resident, returns to give a free library concert in collaboration with the Jazz Foundation of America with the World Street, featuring a top-shelf East Bay rhythm section of pianist Matt Clark, bassist Heshima Mark Williams and drummer Mark Lee, a mainstay of the Oaktown Jazz Workshops. The gig will transform the community meeting room into a jazz cafe with light refreshments. Thursday, Sept. 4, 6 p.m. Tarea Hall Pittman South Branch. FREE"

UC Berkeley's Worth Ryder Gallery hosts Both Sides Now 10 Sept. 4–30, featuring ten artists and addressing media control, memory, labor and posthuman experience; gallery hours are mostly noon–5 p.m., Tuesday–Friday, and admission is free. BAMPFA offers free gallery admission monthly on First Thursdays. New York saxophonist Michael Marcus performs a free library concert Sept. 4 at Tarea Hall Pittman South Branch with an East Bay rhythm section. A guitar double bill featuring Teja Gerken, Doug Young and Stevie Coyle plays Sept. 5 at The Monkey House with modest ticket prices.
