"After three years of Yahoo dropping hints at its return to search, Yahoo has announced Yahoo! Scout - its new AI search engine feature that is embedded within Yahoo Search, Yahoo Mail, Yahoo News, Yahoo Finance, Yahoo Sports and so on - as well as at scout.yahoo.com. Yahoo has not done Search on its own since before 2009, so this is a big deal for Yahoo!"

Yahoo launched Yahoo! Scout as an AI search capability embedded across Yahoo Search, Mail, News, Finance, Sports and at scout.yahoo.com. Yahoo had not run its own search since before 2009. Yahoo! Scout uses Anthropic models combined with Yahoo’s data and custom interface elements. The interface mirrors other AI search engines but adds a friendly, playful design with blue citation highlights and purple featured-source panels. Search results include clickable news sections, shopping results monetized via affiliate commissions, and Microsoft Advertising–powered ads beneath answers. The product is designed to drive clicks downstream to publishers. A publisher portal for impressions and clicks has been promised, and Eric Feng leads the effort.
