Nvidia is acquiring a 2.9 percent stake in Nokia for $1 billion to accelerate development of next-generation networks powered by AI. Data centers are central to the strategy, with McKinsey forecasting over $1.7 trillion in data center infrastructure capital expenditure by 2030 driven by AI growth. Nvidia holds a dominant position supplying chips for data centers and has existing deals with OpenAI and Microsoft. Nokia CEO Justin Hotard, focused on expanding Nokia’s data center business, accelerated talks with Nvidia. The partnership targets AI network solutions and data center products and aims to integrate Nokia’s communication products into Nvidia’s AI infrastructure plans.
