My biggest gripe with Facebook is its tendency to suppress real news in favor of stories fabricated from whole cloth, designed to provoke responses from deranged right-wingers who apparently will believe anything that feeds into their somewhat tenuous connection to reality.
Facebook's almighty algorithm reads that as "engagement," and gives you more of the same, piled higher and deeper.
Meta AI pointed out key indicators that suggest the article is fake: sensationalized and provocative tone, lack of specific details, controversial content intended to provoke emotions, and absence from reputable news sources.
