London boy, 16, wins $1 million Silicon Valley investment for his AI startup
Briefly

Toby Brown, a 16-year-old programmer from Twickenham, has garnered $1 million in investment for his AI startup, Beem. The project, developed in his bedroom, is designed to help users manage everyday tasks by learning their preferences. Toby has deferred his GCSEs to concentrate on this venture and will join an accelerator program in Silicon Valley. Unlike typical AI platforms, Beem is built to be user-centric. Toby draws inspiration from tech giants, emphasizing that his project began simply as a solution to a problem rather than a company initiative.
It's what we are calling an AI native computer... it keeps the human in the loop as much as possible but handles all the grunt work.
We are kind of doing what Apple did with the iPhone, we are starting with the user experience and working back into the tech.
The important thing for me is that Beem never started as a company, it was a side project...something that other people wanted.
