As it celebrates its fifth anniversary, the Innovative Optical and Wireless Network (IOWN) Global Forum plans to prioritize updating reference architectures and developing early adoption use cases. Led by NTT, IOWN aims to build an all-photonics network to support the ultra high-speed internet demanded by the hyper-connected business world. The initiative addresses the growth of AI and the resulting pressures on network infrastructure, responding to the rising demand for data and the increased energy consumption associated with new applications. The collaboration with ITU focuses on creating a sustainable global communications landscape.
