"Think of RPA as a train on tracks - it can only go where the tracks are laid. Agentic AI is more like a self-driving car - it can navigate different routes and situations adaptively," said Paul Chada, co-founder of agentic AI-based software providing startup Doozer AI.
According to Cameron Marsh, senior analyst at Nucleus Research, agentic AI is able to interpret data, predict outcomes, and learn from new data, allowing it to take actions independently unlike traditional RPA which struggles with unexpected data.
This adaptive nature of agentic AI can help enterprises increase efficiency by handling complex, variable tasks that traditional RPA can't manage, such as roles of claims adjusters and loan officers.
Software vendors are now promoting agentic AI tools like Salesforce’s Agentforce and Microsoft’s Copilot-based autonomous Agents, indicating a shift in the market towards more capable AI solutions.
