Intel won't bring its Falcon Shores AI chip to market | TechCrunch
Briefly

Intel has decided to abandon its Falcon Shores GPU, which was intended for high-performance computing and AI, and will instead utilize it as an internal test chip. The decision arises amid a series of product failures and significant financial losses, as Intel aims to redirect its focus towards Jaguar Shores for a broader AI data center solution. Co-CEO Michelle Johnston Holthaus expressed dissatisfaction with Intel’s current position in the AI market, acknowledging the need for simplification and resource concentration, especially after the underwhelming performance of the Gaudi 3 chip.
Intel is effectively killing Falcon Shores, its next-generation GPU for high-performance computing and AI workloads.
The focus instead will be on Jaguar Shores, which Holthaus called Intel's opportunity to develop a system-level solution at rack scale.
AI data center is an attractive market for us, but I am not happy with where we are today.
Gaudi 3 is was widely seen as a miss for Intel, unable to meet its goal of $500 million in sales.
