Fidji Simo, the CEO of Instacart, will join OpenAI as Application CEO later this year, as confirmed by OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman. Simo, a board member at OpenAI, brings extensive experience in product management and monetization from roles at Meta and Instacart, the latter of which she recently led to a public offering. Altman noted her qualifications for overseeing the applications team, which handles how OpenAI's research is implemented in the real world. Simo will remain chair of Instacart's board during a transition period.
