Chatbot AI makes racist judgements on the basis of dialect
Briefly

Researchers found that some artificial intelligence (AI) systems are more likely to recommend the death penalty to a fictional defendant presenting a statement written in African American English (AAE) compared with one written in Standardized American English (SAE).
The findings show that such models harbour covert racism, even when they do not display overt racism. The team found that using human feedback after training the model had no effect on covert racism.
