A recent survey by Kyndryl revealed that 45% of CEOs feel their employees are hostile towards AI tools, while only 8% of tech executives share this perception. The disconnect in workforce readiness approaches is significant, with 80% of CTOs favoring upskilling existing employees versus CEOs prioritizing new hires. Despite 64% of CEOs intensifying AI adoption, only 44% have assessed its impact on their workforce. The findings highlight a concerning skills gap, with 71% of leaders believing their teams are unprepared for effective AI utilization.
"Preparing your workforce for the era of AI is easy to say, hard to do, and an urgent imperative for business leaders," said Maryjo Charbonnier, Chief Human Resources Officer at Kyndryl.
The report echoes research by IBM last year that suggested CEOs are pushing adoption of generative AI more quickly than workers are comfortable with.
