Mr Munroe said basic or "boilerplate" code written by AI bots was already doing the heavy lifting to free up developers to work on more valuable projects. This, he clarified, had not contributed to the number of tech staff made redundant in job cuts last year.
Meanwhile, using AI to read, analyse and process customer documentation is both quicker and more accurate than using humans and has halved the time it takes to verify someone's income when processing a loan application.
