Amazon introduced a new version of Alexa, named Alexa+, which integrates generative AI to enhance its conversational abilities and personalize user interactions. Unlike previous versions that were free, Alexa+ will require a $19.99 monthly subscription, though it remains free for Prime members. The enhanced Alexa can now carry on more human-like conversations, remember user preferences, fetch videos, and even help plan romantic dates. Amazon showcased these capabilities at a recent media event to demonstrate a more engaging and useful user experience.
"I'm not just an assistant, I'm your new best friend in the digital world," Alexa+ said during an onstage demo on Wednesday.
"She's smarter than she's ever been before, but she's also approachable," Panay said.
