Amazon CEO Andy Jassy stated that the integration of generative AI will change workflows and lead to efficiency gains, potentially resulting in job cuts for white-collar employees. He mentioned that as the company rolls out more AI technologies, it will require fewer workers in certain roles while creating demand for new roles. Although it is difficult to predict the exact scale and timing of these changes, significant workforce reductions are anticipated in the coming years.
As we roll out more Generative AI and agents, it should change the way our work is done. We will need fewer people doing some of the jobs.
It's hard to know exactly where this nets out over time, but in the next few years, we expect that this will reduce our total corporate workforce.
