AI generates playful, human-like games
Briefly

Researchers at New York University have developed a computer model that simulates human-like goal generation by studying how individuals come up with game ideas. This innovative research, published in Nature Machine Intelligence, aims to enhance AI's understanding of human goals and intentions. The model could improve the design of AI systems to align more closely with human behavior, potentially leading to more creative applications, including game design. The team conducted experiments where participants were asked to propose playful goals based on objects in a virtual room, resulting in nearly 100 unique games.
While goals are fundamental to human behavior, we know very little about how people represent and come up with them -- and lack models that capture the richness and creativity of human-generated goals.
Our research provides a new framework for understanding how people create and represent goals, which could help develop more creative, original, and effective AI systems.
