As use of AI assistants in workplace meetings grows, experts from the Emily Post Institute advise on the emerging etiquette rules. Attendees should be informed when an AI participant is recording, as transparency fosters comfort. Additionally, offering access to AI-generated summaries may engage coworkers positively. However, if someone expresses discomfort with the AI's presence, it is important to halt its use immediately. Understanding the balance between utilizing technology and maintaining interpersonal respect is crucial in modern workplace dynamics involving AI.
"Any time you record, you want to let someone know," Daniel Post Senning told BI.
"It's just nice to give people a heads-up when something different, unexpected, or that's going to record them is going to be a part of the equation," said Lizzie Post.
"It makes perfect sense that you might say to somebody why that recording is in place and what benefit they might get from it," Post Senning added.
"You should be prepared to stop the recording or other usage of an AI assistant if greeted with pushback from hesitant coworkers."
