Takehiro Tomiyasu, the 26-year-old Arsenal defender, has successfully undergone knee surgery and will miss the rest of the current season. This operation marks the second knee surgery within his Arsenal tenure, with the first occurring last season. Tomiyasu has struggled with injuries, playing only six minutes this season and previously missing significant time due to a calf injury. Arsenal confirmed the procedure was necessary after persistent knee issues post his initial surgery in August. He is now set to begin a rehabilitation program that should conclude towards the year's end.
Despite an initial surgical procedure in August, followed by a return to full training, and featuring as a substitute in our home Premier League match against Southampton in October, Tomi continued to have issues with his knee, resulting in a further corrective surgical procedure.
Tomiyasu has undergone a successful knee operation and will miss the rest of this season, Arsenal have confirmed.
The 26-year-old, who also missed 13 games last season with a calf injury, is set to be sidelined again for most of the calendar year.
Tomi will now begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme, which is expected to be completed towards the end of this year.
