Jack Wilshere, now a head coach, is navigating the challenges of coaching with notable ease and determination. As part of a Uefa Pro Licence course, he is facing intense media training, showcasing his transition from a player to a leader. Despite the pressure of the simulations, Wilshere's grounded nature, ambition, and leadership goals shine through, influenced by the coaching methods of Mikel Arteta. Since retiring as a player, his experiences have transformed his approach, fostering a desire to excel in his new role, aiming for higher coaching positions.
There is a humanity, an honesty, and an all-around likability to him that means that when he steps away from the table after his interrogation there is little to fault.
It is evident the pursuit of excellence that drove him as a player has been rechannelled into his coaching.
Mikel was the one. I’d never seen someone coach that way, I’d never seen his passion, I’d never seen how he would try to teach the players.
I like to have an end goal in sight and that is to be a head coach.
