Arsenal's season has taken a tumultuous turn, leaving them with one shot at silverware through the Champions League. Currently trailing behind Premier League leaders Liverpool and eliminated from both domestic cups, the team's form has been inconsistent. Key injuries, especially to players like Bukayo Saka and Ben White, have impacted their performance, notably affecting club captain Martin Odegaard. Despite criticism toward Odegaard's recent displays, journalist Charles Watts defends him, highlighting external factors like teammate absences and recovery from an injury that complicate his ability to perform at his best.
I'll be honest, I just can't get my head around a lot of the criticism Martin Odegaard has been getting of late. It's certainly fair to criticise some of his performances because, as he admits himself, he hasn't been good enough compared to the lofty standards he has set over the past couple of years.
One of the key issues has been the disruption on the right side of Arsenal's attack. The absence of Bukayo Saka and Ben White, two players with whom Odegaard has developed a strong understanding, has forced the playmaker to adapt to different teammates.
