During WWDC, Apple executives acknowledged shortcomings in delivering promised AI features, especially for Siri, which had been overly ambitious last year. Craig Federighi, presenting the updates, publicly recognized that the company needed more time to meet its high-quality standards. This year's event aimed to correct the narrative from the previous year, where Apple's partnership with OpenAI drew media focus from its own AI advancements. Despite earlier praise, it's clear that Apple faced internal challenges in executing its ambitious plans for AI integration into its products.
As we've shared, we're continuing our work to deliver the features that make Siri even more personal. This work needed more time to reach our high quality bar, and we look forward to sharing more about it in the coming year.
Even with everything Apple overpromised (if not outright lied about) at the WWDC keynote, the initial takeaway from WWDC from the news media was wrongly focused on their partnership with OpenAI.
