You might soon be allowed to ride a moped on these two NYC bridges
Briefly

The Department of Transportation (DOT) has proposed changes allowing mopeds back on the Brooklyn Bridge and the lower level of the Queensboro Bridge, while maintaining restrictions on others like the Manhattan Bridge. Currently banned from bridge roadways, mopeds have been using bike paths illegally, raising safety concerns. The proposed amendments are aimed at reducing conflicts with cyclists, as the Brooklyn and lower Queensboro Bridge offer more safety features for moped riders. A congestion fee of $4.50 would apply for moped entry into Manhattan.
"The configurations of the Manhattan Bridge, Williamsburg Bridge and the upper roadway of the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge do not provide the same protections" The DOT's reasoning is rooted in safety concerns.
"There are barriers or bridge structures running along the Brooklyn Bridge and the lower roadway of the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge that help protect riders in the event of a crash" highlights the safety measures in place.
