Waymo is deliberately increasing its robotaxi service area in San Francisco and Los Angeles, covering a total of 250 square miles. Starting in mid-June, the service will extend to more neighborhoods, including Brisbane and Palo Alto in San Francisco, and Playa del Rey in Los Angeles. Despite setbacks, such as protests against ICE, Waymo is enjoying considerable usage with 10 million paid rides to date and aims to double its vehicle fleet from 1,500 to 3,500 by 2026. The service operates solely via the Waymo One app in California, while in Austin, it collaborates with Uber for ride-hailing.
