Stellantis has officially announced the delay of the Ram 1500 REV, its first fully electric pickup truck, from early 2025 to 2026 due to slowing demand for half-ton BEV pickups.
The Ramcharger, which is an extended-range EV pickup featuring a gas generator to enhance its range, will be launched ahead of the Ram 1500 REV with orders opening in early 2025.
The decision to delay the Ram 1500 REV reflects broader industry trends, where automakers are scaling back EV investments due to slower-than-expected growth in the U.S. market for electric trucks.
The Ramcharger aims to address some of the challenges faced by electric trucks, utilizing a 92-kilowatt-hour battery alongside an engine that boosts range, ideal for long trips or heavy loads.
