Oakland airport adds zero-emission shuttle buses to fleet
Briefly

Oakland International Airport has initiated a move towards a sustainable future by introducing five zero-emission electric buses, as part of a broader plan to transition to an all-electric fleet within ten years. These buses, manufactured by RIDE, a subsidiary of BYD, will replace existing natural gas vehicles, enhancing environmental stewardship while offering passengers modern amenities. Funded in part by $2.7 million from California grants, the project underscores a commitment to responsible transportation solutions that prioritize both community needs and ecological impact, highlighting ongoing efforts in climate-conscious transit improvements.
We look forward to continuing our path towards an all-electric bus fleet in the coming years, said Port of Oakland Director of Aviation Craig Simon.
With a range of up to 208 miles, the buses are an example of the forward-thinking approach to environmental stewardship.
RIDE is thrilled to partner with OAK to offer sustainable transportation solutions that benefit both the environment and the community.
Three different California grant programs provided $2.7 million of that funding, according to port officials.
